Listen to something you can both enjoy?

Luckily the friend-girl doesn't mind if we listen to lots of live Dead since she grew up on the studio albums (I know, wtf?). It's fun to see her ears perk up when something recognizable but 'new' comes on. We do share a taste for lots of different types of music in common, so I guess I'm pretty lucky, save for her being a Boss Head. :p

Jerry Band (circa: 1976, '77, & '78). If that doesn't resolve the issue, I suggest you find a new "tour laidie friend."

Well one thing you don't want to do is to drive her over the edge with it driving her to despise them rather than tolerate them. Try to sneak it in here and there then find excuses ( like going to the store alone, or hanging out with a friend, or in my case the hour each way to work and back ) to be able to enjoy it yourself unobstructed without complaining or talking. Another thing I've learned is that you just don't ever know what might be the song or style they might warm up to. In my case my wife prefers Jerry tunes with the exception of Playin and pretty much does not dig on the long jams.
